About

Hello, my name is Amanda and I am a New York City Teaching Fellow.

I was born and raised in central Florida and I recently graduated from the University of Miami with a B.S. in Marine Science and Biology with a minor in Chemistry. I will be teaching high school biology in the Bronx for the next couple of years. Needless to say this is a big and exciting change for this little Florida girl!

  1. Hey Amanda:

I came across your blog while doing some research on the NYC Teaching Fellows program. I’m 33, and 11+ years into a career in IT (i.e. I play with computers all day) — and I’m HEAVILY considering moving into a teaching career.

Was wondering if you would mind if I picked your brain about your thoughts on the NYCTF program, and (as you go through it) teaching in general…

    thanks.

    oh, and good luck!

  2. Hi Amanda

Came upon your site as I was Googling NYCTF.

I used to be a Teaching Fellow, Cohort 11.

If you have any questions, feel free to email me.

    Best of luck to you!

  3. Hi Amanda!
Wonderful blog! I am a new NYCTF! Are you still teaching in the Bronx?

  4. Hello all, I was invited for an interview wit the fellows. I am seriously considering wearing a blazer for the interview but I am scared that this might be too casual. what pants would be best. Can I wear a contrasting color of pants and still look like a serious candidate? pleas I really need the job. How can help with some advice?
